Making a Summer Reading Program Pop
When the Yorba Linda Public Library chose “Read to the Rhythm” for its summer reading program, they wanted a unique twist. They decided to skip the standard graphics and build the entire program around a New York City music and theater theme. The challenge was to create materials that captured the vibrancy of the city and motivated adults to read.
my solution
I designed a full suite of materials for the program, including event posters, flyers, and a 16-page full-color booklet for participants. The central design element was inspired by the iconic lines of the NYC subway map, a globally recognized symbol.
I handled every stage of the project, from initial concept and design to copywriting and working with the printer. The custom design provided a cohesive and exciting look that set the Yorba Linda Public Library’s program apart.
