About Me.

Government agencies and mission-driven organizations face a unique challenge: they need exceptional creative work but rarely have the internal resources to coordinate designers, developers, strategists, and production teams. For 25+ years, I’ve been the single partner these organizations rely on.

I’m a Creative Director who specializes in complete solutions for public-facing organizations—from initial strategy through final execution. That means brand identity development, web infrastructure, marketing campaigns, social media systems, print production, and everything in between. One partner who understands both your mission and the full scope of what it takes to execute it.

My background spans public transportation (Amtrak, Caltrans, Capitol Corridor), government communications (14 years with the City of Yorba Linda), state programs (California State Library), and cultural institutions (museums, libraries, nonprofits). This isn’t work I stumbled into—it’s where I’ve deliberately built deep expertise in solving the unique challenges these organizations face.

Why This Work Requires a Different Approach

Public sector and mission-driven organizations operate differently. You’re serving diverse communities, navigating complex approval processes, working within tight budgets, meeting accessibility requirements, and balancing multiple stakeholder interests. Cookie-cutter creative solutions don’t work here.

What does work: A partner who understands these constraints from the inside and can deliver complete creative services without requiring you to become a project manager coordinating five different vendors.

Transit and transportation work taught me to handle complexity at the highest level. Launching a regional rail service means creating brand identities that work at 70mph and at a standstill, designing wayfinding for daily commuters and first-time tourists, coordinating across multiple agencies and approval bodies, and executing across train interiors, station platforms, mobile apps, print schedules, and marketing campaigns.
If I can do that, I can handle your museum rebrand, library system guidelines, or cultural institution marketing campaign.

What I Bring to Every Project

After 25+ years, I’ve learned what actually works in public sector creative work:

Complete creative capability – I don’t just design logos. I develop strategy, create brand systems, build websites (from AWS infrastructure to final design), produce print materials, manage social media, and execute campaigns. You get one experienced partner, not a coordination headache.

Government fluency – 14 years of work in city government taught me how public agencies make decisions, how to navigate procurement and approval processes, and how to maintain creative excellence within institutional frameworks.

Systems thinking – The best work I do creates frameworks that scale and endure. Brand guidelines that non-designers can use confidently. Wayfinding systems that adapt to new locations. Templates that maintain consistency while allowing flexibility.

Strategic problem-solving – Every project starts with understanding your goals, constraints, and audience. Design decisions flow from strategy, not trends.

Respect for the process – Public sector work requires patience, collaboration across departments, adherence to accessibility standards, and understanding institutional realities. I work within these requirements while pushing for the best possible outcomes.
